Experience and Loot

Experience and levelling in this game is going to be handled abstactly, meaning I’m not going to keep a strict watch over your XP gains for monster kills, challenge success, and so on. Levelling up is generally going to occur at the end of a major storyline, but if there is a long space of one-off sessions between storylines that may effect when levels are achieved. TL,DR: You level up at the end of major storylines.

We’ll also not be doing standard loot gains, as in counting out coinage and such after each encounter, parcelling loot, so on and so on. I don’t think it fits the feel of the game we’ve been playing, and it’s a huge logistical headache with this many players who may or may not be at every session, or some that will be at very few for RL reasons. Instead of this then each time you level you’ll gain an amount of gold to spend on your equipment, keeping your character wealth in check with the expected character wealth of a PC your level. When you get this sum you’re free to spend it on equipment as you please, and I thoroughly encourage the enlistment of your fellow players’ skills and feats in doing so (remember crafted magic items are half price, and the party has quite a few crafting feats between them).

Though we’re not doing standard loot gains I do intend to place significant loot in the sessions, mainly in the form of wonderous items, consumables, and other non-essentials for you to gather and use. These will not be factored into your character worth, and it will simply be up to the group as to how to divvy these items out (I expect fair distribution OOCly, of course).
